Justin Frieh began music at the Conservatory of Caen, in the class of Sylvie Manautines. After an improvement prize, he continued his studies at the Conservatory of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés with Véronique Fèvre. His great interest in the practice of 20th century music led him to the Academy of Music in Strasbourg in the class of Armand Angster. He continued his studies in Master Interpretation in the class of Jean-Marc Foltz where he pushed further his exploration of the repertoire and broadened his instrumental practice (bass clarinet, contrabass clarinet, small clarinet ...). It centers this Master around a centerpiece of the twentieth century clarinet repertoire: Dialogue of the double shadow by Pierre Boulez, for clarinet and electronics.

Concerned about a broad and global vision of music, he also practices chamber music in various formations (wind quintet, clarinet quartet ...) and participates in the Academy of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Strasbourg.

During his studies he improved his skills during various master classes with clarinetists and composers: Pascal Moraguès, David Krakauer, Wolfgang Meyer, Jacques Di Donato, Romain Guyot, Paul Méfano, François-Bernard Mâche ... Convinced of the complementarity of professions of musician and teacher, he also studies pedagogy and currently teaches clarinet at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional du Grand Nancy.

Passionate about the immense diversity of repertoires offered by music, he performs in very varied groups. Thus, he played at the SuonaFrancese Festival in Parma, at the Strasbourg Musica Festival, at the Lucerne Festival Academy where he works with the members of the Ensemble Intercontemporain. For the past two years, he has also participated in the Biennale College Musica in Venice, which brings together young musicians, instrumentalists and composers, around creations of operas.
